TEXAS TECH MASS COMMUNICATIONS

Directions:

The Helen DeVitt Jones Foundation will award these scholarships to students whose majors include Advertising, Electronic Media and Communications, Journalism and Public Relations.

Award:

Fifteen $3,000 scholarships with preference given to students from West Texas.

DAVID RATLIFF MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP from the Abilene Kiwanis Club

Directions:

Will be awarded to students who are active in high school athletics and who maintain a GPA of 90 or above.  You must intend to compete in athletics at the college level, but cannot be the recipient of a college-awarded athletic scholarship.

PROTON ENERGY SCHOLARSHIP

Directions:

This million-dollar scholarship program recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate outstanding achievement, excellence and promise in the field of science or technology, and who plan to pursue higher education in this field.

ODELL JOHNSON SCHOLARSHIP from the West Texas Fair & Rodeo

Directions:

You must be in the top quarter of your class, be active in extra-curricular activities, and have evidence of need for financial assistance.

Award:

$1,000 will be awarded to a senior who has shown interest and ability in scientific study and has plans to pursue Science as a career.

Due back to us by Feb. 14.


Rising Roadrunner Scholarship


Award Amount:

$1500/year ($750 per semester) awarded

Scholarships vary and renewable for one additional year.

Selection will be based on extracurricular involvement, leadership, community service, awards, academics and the application essay

Directions: Write an essay of no more than 500 words (one page) on what kinds of opportunities and challenges you think your education will present in the future.

CARR ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

AMOUNT:  $2,000.00 - $6,000.00 annually

ELIGIBILTIY:  Attend Angelo State University; ranked in the top 15% of your class; score a combined minimum of 1140 on the SAT or a minimum composite of 25 on the ACT

W. PRICE JR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP (TEXAS RESTAURANT ASSOCIATION)

ELIGIBILITY:

  1. Be a resident of Texas, but can attend school outside of the state
  2. Be enrolled in any degreed food-service or hospitality program
  3. Be a registered full time student (12 hours or more) with at least 3 hours per semester devoted to food-service or hospitality management
  4. Have an overall GPA of 2.75 and major GPA of 3.5 (2.75 for high school seniors)
  5. Demonstrate the ability to become an asset to the food-service industry.

MOTIVATING UNDERGRADUATES IN SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

The Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology Project, or MUST, funded by the NASA, is a joint partnership between the Hispanic College Fund, the United Negro College Fund Special Programs and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers.

MUST awards scholarships and internships to undergraduates pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM, fields. The MUST Project is open to all students and is particularly focused on engaging students from underserved and underrepresented groups to enter STEM fields.

Each year, the MUST Project will support approximately 100 undergraduate students with a one-year competitive scholarship of up to one-half of tuition, not to exceed $10,000. Students who maintain the required minimum grade point average will be eligible for a paid internship at a NASA center. Additionally, students will benefit year-round from tutoring, lecture series and mentoring from STEM faculty and peers.

The MISS SNAKE CHARMER SCHOLARSHIP PAGEANT 2009

ELIGIBILTY:   Open to all girls between the ages of 16-19; must live within a 75 mile radius of Sweetwater; must be single and never have been married, nor had her marriage annulled, nor may she have cohabitated with a male in lieu of a marriage contract and must not be or never have been pregnant; must be of good moral character and shall not have been convicted of any crimes and shall possess talent, poise, personality, intelligence and charm; must possess and display talent in not more than 31/2 minute talent routine; and, agree to appear at  the judging and at the Rattlesnake round-up.
