The AEF has awarded a total of 95 college scholarships to graduating AISD Seniors since 2005, valued at $800,000. These four-year renewable scholarships have been made possible through generous grants from the Shelton Family Foundation. The scholarships are designed to help graduating AISD seniors reach their full educational and career potential in the pursuit of post-secondary studies.

These renewable scholarships facilitate attendance at a four-year university ($8,000 per scholarship) or two-year junior/community college ($2,000 per scholarship).

Awards may be used at any four year university or two year junior college. Abilene Christian University, McMurry, Hardin-Simmons, and Cisco Junior College have all generously offered to match these AEF scholarships for those students who decide to attend a local university or junior college. Scholarships may be used for direct costs including tuition, academic fees, books and/or college-sponsored room and board.

The AEF continues to make payments on the renewable scholarships that were awarded through the last year of this program in spring of 2008. AEF is currently working to replenish additional scholarship funds and hopes to reintroduce this program in the future.
