Scholarships due April 1 – April 15
ZPR MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS – Five $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to a graduating senior from Taylor County! Deadline is April 6. Applications are available from the Counseling Office.
WENDELL J. STEWART SCHOLARSHIPS from the Permian Basin Section Society for Sedimentary Geology – If you are a senior planning a college career in a field of natural science (geology, physics, chemistry, biology, etc.) or engineering, you are eligible to apply. Five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. These can be renewed annually by reapplying. See their website, www.pbs-sepm.org for information and application. April 1 deadline.
DYESS CHIEFS’ GROUP SCHOLARSHIP
AMOUNT: Three categories, $1,000.00 each
CRITERIA: A graduating Taylor County high school student who is dependent son or daughter of an active duty person assigned to Dyess AFB or a dependent of a retired or deceased military person: dependent spouse of active duty military person assigned to Dyess AFB: dependent (non-spouse) who is currently enrolled in a college or and is a dependent son or daughter of an active duty person assigned to Dyess AFB or a dependent of a retired or deceased military person

Abilene Sports Alliance Scholarship
AMOUNT: $1,000.00
ELIGIBILITY: one male and one female graduating senior that will not or has not accepted an athletic scholarship to a Division l or Division ll university; be a full-time student at an accredited institution of higher learning in the fall of 2013

Name: ELMER MCKENNEY TRUST SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: to be determined in April
Eligibility: Graduating senior with a GPA of 85+ during the senior year; demonstrating good citizenship and serious purpose in the pursuit of knowledge; planning to attend a degree granting institution; provide references and demonstrate financial need.

KIWANIS CLUB FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS – Five will be awarded, approximately $1,000 each, to Abilene seniors. The deadline to them is April 15. Application packets are available in the Counseling Office.
B. DON MAGNESS “TEXAS CARES FOR CHILDREN” SCHOLARSHIP from the Miss Texas organization – This scholarship will be given to a male senior at a high school or in a school district that has presented the Texas Cares for Children Program. The amount is $1,000. Deadline to them is April 30.
KIWANIS CLUB OF ABILENE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
AMOUNT: $1,000
CRITERIA: Application must be submitted from students enrolled in schools within the Abilene city limits; must complete an application packet

BIG COUNTRY IRIS AND DAYLILY SOCIETY
AMOUNT: $500.00
CRTERIA: majoring in Horticulture or Agriculture

AARP CHAPTER 1346 SCHOLARSHIP – $500 will be awarded to a senior interested in social work or medical fields. The Counseling Office has applications – they are short and easy to fill out. Due date is May 1.
ABILENE TEACHERS FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIPS – At least ten $1,000 scholarships will be given to seniors who have an account in his or her name at ATFCU. Applications are available online at www.abileneteachersfcu.org, or from any ATFCU location or the Counseling Office. May 6 deadline.
TEXAS HOSPITALITY ASSOCIATION Poster Contest
AMOUNT: $ 5,000.00 1st place
$ 2,500.00 2nd place
$ 1,500.00 3rd place

CRITERIA: 2013 graduating high school seniors: must submit an original design conveying the message or theme

Name: TEXAS INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Amount: Ranges from $500-$20,000.
Criteria: Must have competed at the UIL Academic State Meet any year of their high school career; must have been accepted to an accredited college or university in Texas; enroll full time and maintain a 2.5 GPA; must have taken the SAT or ACT; must be graduating this year.

June 2013
Scholarships due June 1 – June 15
Name: ABBOTT & FENNER SCHOLARSHIP
Amount: $1,000.
Criteria: Open to all high school juniors and seniors; write a 500-1,000 word essay.
