Cajun Fest

ABILENE IS GOING CAJUN…AGAIN!

Have you heard?!  ABILENE IS GOING CAJUN! Last year, the Abilene Education Foundation expanded its Cajun Festival to an all-day, family fun event, and it was such a hit that we’ve decided to keep it that way.  So, mark your calendars for Saturday, April 8th at the Taylor County Expo Center Fairgrounds.

The Cajun Festival is AEF’s annual fundraising event, which includes an authentic Louisiana style crawfish and shrimp meal, a 5K run/walk, live music showcasing the many talented student groups in AISD, food trucks, an inflatable park and activities for the kids, among a myriad of other entertainment options to make for a fun-filled day of adventure for everyone.  Last year, we served over 1400 people a crawfish meal, with even more folks venturing through the event just to experience the fun!  Additionally, the community’s participation in the first annual Crawfish Crawl 5K exceeded our wildest expectations doubling estimated attendance for a first-time event.

Perhaps the best part of Cajun Festival is that the proceeds raised through the event go directly back to the teachers and students of Abilene ISD.  We’ve all had a teacher who made a lasting impression in our lives.  We all know educators who can attest there is never enough funding for new ideas and classroom support materials.  AEF helps fund classroom supplies for new-to-the-profession teachers, helps turn college dreams into reality, and provides grants for classroom projects through its fundraising events. So come on out on April 8th, eat some crawfish, have some fun and support the students of AISD.

Abilene ISD Payroll Deduction Campaign

The Payroll Deduction Campaign gives employees of Abilene ISD the opportunity to directly support STAR Teacher Grants, or any other AEF program through payroll deduction. This has allowed AEF to give away more money each and every year to STAR Teacher Grants. Employees may also specify their donation go to another AEF program. In the fall of 2013, employees of AHS, CHS, and ATEMS began a scholarship fund for a deserving senior at their school. Another reason the payroll deduction campaign has grown is due to the hard work of our campus liaisons who serve as spokespersons on behalf of AEF during their campus staff meetings. 100% of all funds raised through the payroll deduction campaign go directly into the hands of the teachers and students in Abilene ISD. This year campuses who reach 80%, 90% or 100% participation received campus rewards including one GRAND PRIZE. All employees who sign up for the campaign will be entered into a drawing to win one of ten 32” flat screen TVs donated by Mr. Robert Briley.

The 2016-2017 Payroll Deduction theme is ”Be A Game Changer.”  Please open the following brochures for more information. 2016-2017 Payroll Deduction Brochure
