Aide to Teacher Application
The Abilene Education Foundation is pleased to offer up to $1,000 in scholarship funds to teacher aides currently employed by Abilene ISD working on becoming a certified teacher. These funds are only available to students participating in the Teacher Aide to Certified Teacher – McMurry University program. McMurry has established a formal partnership with Abilene ISD to offer aides a special tuition rate, courses at times outside regular school hours, and the option for a clinical teaching or paid internship with a bachelor’s degree upon graduation. Students who successfully complete the program will be eligible for a standard Texas teaching certificate. Applicants who have not yet enrolled, but are interested may contact Admissions at admissions@mcm.edu. Scholarship applicants must be enrolled in courses at McMurry University before funds will be dispersed, and proof will be required. Once proof of enrollment is delivered by the student then the funds will be dispersed to McMurry and applied to the student’s account.
